Howdy All I am new too, just joined up in the last week or two and have found a JCB 3c M11. It has no cab but works okay (needs starter motor). Brakes kind of work, but blowing no smoke except for the usual. It has the following serial numbers: JCB Serial Number: 3C 1092903 Tractor Serial Number: 384B 192903 Engine Serial Number: 23708 I was wondering what year it was manufactured etc thanks. I got it home on a float and as the starter motor gear was stripped I had to clutch start the machine. Left it running on the float and then drove it up the drive way. Now that was an experience as the drive way is a bit like a 4 wheel track It needs a good clean and all the oils changing.
It seems the last owner used cheap car oil for the hydraulics and over filled the engine oil. One of the boys and I spent yesterday cleaning and found a few interesting items in the cab area. We also found that the last time it was painted the person painted dirt in tight corners. I got it so cheap I could not say no and better it comes to my place otherwise it would have ened up at the scrap yard. I suppose I will have to look at the ring gear and see if it needs filing or perhaps turn it around. I found a reco starter motor for about $300, sounds dear but I guess when it is rare the wreckers can charge what they like. None of the rams are leaking but the slewing actuator does not work.
It does have a lot of hard mud and soil, so this maybe the reason. Not sure at the moment for the hoe does not work. I downloaded the manuals so many thanks to the submitter. I was also wondering if mobil delvac 1330 would be the right oil to use for the engine. Winter temp 1-18Deg Summer 13-35Deg. I will upload some pictures when it stops raining Thanks for any replies john.
Hi Nice Video Jimmy I have to build another shed for this one. Lucky the rain has eased.
Just some photos of my machine. Got a few problems since I have got it home. Any thoughts please: I have a couple of questions I would love to be answered if possible please. Is there an equivalent starter motor for a Lucas 26351E (or still get new) The gear is shredded to about 50% and the ring gear has a very slight sharp edge, which need filing. Music notations free. I can get a reconditioned starter but was thinking of a new one eg he same one if possible? Is it possible to get at the ring gear by taking the housing off at the back of the motor?
I noticed there is gasket goo on that join (to block) and a gap between that housing and the top of the clutch housing. It is the housing that holds the starter motor. Please refer to photo (the yellow housing is to the re of the backhoe, the black housing is what holds the starter). I noticed yesterday that the oil has increased in the motor. It has a diesel smell.
Could this be leaking in from the lift pump? Or would it be more likely the injector pump? I really appreciate any replies also is it cool to post this on this thread or should I start my own? Thanks John HI all Just an update: Well I sorted out the starter motor, the old one was no good, checked by two starter reconditioners. I could have got an import from the USA for $150 (new it says??) and about the same for shipment so $300. So I got a reconditioned one for $250. An original which is good 3c MK11. Now to sought out the ring gear or as some of you may call it flywheel.
