Hello, In the past 4 days.when i leave my computer for more than 20 minutes, it automatically goes to screensaver, now this is something new, this never used to happen.i don't bother with the screensaver setting.and the problem is.when it goes to screensaver, (which is set at widows 3D) everything freezes and i have to reboot my computer. I went into control panel to try to change my screensaver and as soon as my mouse pointer touches the screensaver tab, everything freezes again and i have to reboot, again.not good.i've done a few troubleshooting things.did a malware and a virus scan, found nothing.also did a defrag. Aside from that, everything seems to be running fine. Also, i'm using the free version of Avast Antivirus. Should i try a different anti-virus to see if it gets rid of this problem? If so, should i uninstall the Avast first or just leave it?

Any suggestions or comments would be most appreciated! Honestly, I can't find anything other than a little sticker with 'M Series' typed on it, along with some other unrelated numbers on the back of my computer. Nothing that indicates model number.Sorry!

Hi, sorry i didn't respond to your last post. For some reason.i didn't get an email with your response so i didn't know.and i just logged in here now. So, F8 doesn't work with my computer.

I tried a few more times and still came up with the same screen with no safe mode option. I was talking to a friend last night who's a bit of a techie.(programmer).he said it's most likely a different 'f' function.said it's rare, but it happens sometimes for older computers. (i still have to figure it out) Anyway, last night i went back into regedit and disabled my screensaver and it worked. I tried it the other day before i contacted you and i guess i didn't save. So my computer is no longer going to screensaver!! But, the problem with the actual screensaver settings in Control Panel still exists when my mouse pointer touches that tab, everything freezes.
